2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Makes You Feel Smart

It was time for a new vehicle.  My 2008 Buick Enclave was making me feel not so smart.  I enjoyed the vehicle, but I was getting tired of the frequent visits to the gas station (15 mpg – no kidding!) and I felt like I was in the shop every other week lately.  It was time.

I wanted to make it a smart purchase.  Not for show, for smarts.  I’ve never been one to spend a lot on cars.  My best car was a new 2000 Audi A6 Six Speed.  It was a beautiful, fun to drive car.  This time, I wanted to triple my gas mileage and make it a current, smart car.  I got it all in my 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring.  What a nice car.  It gets 47 mpg.  I’ve only filled the tank 3 times in about a month and a half.  It drives great,  It’s fun.  The interior is beautiful.  The trunk is huge.  It fits me, my wife and our three boys comfortably.  When we need more space for one of the grandmas, we take the Honda Odyssey.

And, it’s a smart car.  I use an iPhone and it hooks right up and gives my most important apps like Waze right on the big screen.  It has 3 driving schemes: EV, Econo and Sport.  EV is all electric which it can handle up to about 25 mph.  Econo uses electricity as much as it can and tones down the acceleration.  Sport has some fun giddy up.  The boys love that when I press that Sport button and the car takes off.  There’s a fun app that shows real time usage of electric versus gas engine and tracks your efficiency by trip.  It’s pretty cool and sometimes I spend too much time glancing at it.

The 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring has some cool safety features.  My favorite is the alert system when backing out.  The camera can look back and to the sides in both directions so you get an alert if a car is coming.  This feature also lets you see cars coming from the sides when you’re trying to back out.  The other thing I like is the cruise control with the auto speed and auto lanes.  Very cool.  The car knows when it is approaching a vehicle and will slow down and then pick up after a lane change by you or the other vehicle.  The lane monitoring will help keep you centered in your lane.  The car will also alert you when it senses you’re tired.  You get alerted when you drift, but then after a while it will tell you it’s time for a break.  This happened to me on a long drive to Arizona.

I can’t say enough great things about this vehicle.  I really struggled with the sedan versus suv.  We’ve gotten used to the higher stance and size of an SUV. You can’t get 47 mpg in an SUV.  I’m really glad I selected the 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring.  Nice car!
