I was at a wedding last night and listened to a good high school friend tell me about his rotator cuff surgery earlier in the year and his ongoing rehab. I told him about Crossover Symmetry which my pitcher son uses. Now, my friend is pushing 60 and isn’t even a “weekend warrior” anymore. He explained that the original injury goes back to his 20s, but recently strained it further. Thus, the surgery. In addition to rehab, the Crossover Symmetry helps most athletes who play baseball, softball, football, golf, tennis or who are swimmers or triathletes.
My son is a high school pitcher and he has used j-bands religiously since he was about 10 years old. I don’t remember how I came across Crossover Symmetry, but I liked the story that the product and the exercises are research-based. He’s been using them about a year and a half now. He still uses the j-bands as a warm up before throwing, but now uses the Crossover Symmetry for strength after throwing. The bands are j-bands on steriods and work out all areas of the shoulders, including the rotator cuff and scapula. He’s been healthy since starting the program and his velocity has increased by 7 miles per hour to 92. Of course, that hasn’t all come from the Crossover Symmetry. He’s been working his legs big time. He recently signed his National Letter of Intent to play at UCLA and has about a dozen MLB teams following him in advance of next year’s draft.
As a side note, my son works harder than most athletes and his high school basketball and baseball coaches say he works harder than any athlete they’ve ever coached. They see him every day. That work ethic doesn’t necessarily show during baseball games for scouts to see and club teams rarely have practices. That’s why I taught him to do the Crossover Symmetry after games too. His club coaches see him do his workout and any scouts that hang around see it. Voila, the reputation he has as a crazy hard worker transfers to the very important club circuit. And, of course, and more importantly, he’s healthy and getting stronger every day.
The Crossover Symmetry comes as two sets of bands (4 bands total), with the heavier bands used for some exercises and the lighter bands used for others. They come in three levels for Novice (8-13 or my friend starting rehab), Athletic (most adults/high school athletes) and Elite (college and pro). The bands are high quality and come with attachment options for anchors (permanent), door belts and rack straps. We went with the door belts so that he can do his routine indoors when he needs to. The bands come with hook attachments so he can always hook onto chain link fences when he’s at the field. The system also comes with a heavy duty instruction card and access to online videos.
The product is expensive (just under $200 and about 4x the cost of j-bands), but we’ve found it to be totally worth it. We had one handle break and the company immediately replaced the pair of bands.
Crossover Symmetry claims to be used by 20 MLB teams, 75% of NCAA Division I Universities, 10 NFL teams, PGA tour players, USA Olympic athletes and thousands of training and rehab clinics. I don’t doubt it.
