This is one of our best purchases ever. The kind that makes you smile when you start using it. I love it, the kids love it. The wife, not so much. She views Alexa as my mistress. It could be much worse!
What is Amazon’s Echo? It’s a speaker, it’s a digital assistant, it’s your remote, it’s your home automation system, it’s your audio Google, it’s just about everything. Here’s how the day can go…
Alexa wakes you up with an alarm.”Alexa, stop.”
“Alexa, what’s the weather?” Alexa tells you.
“Alexa, what’s the news?” Alexa tells you.
You’re a little cold. “Alexa, set the temperature to 73 degrees.”
“Alexa, play top 40 music.”
You get home at the end of the day.
“Alexa, turn on the Apple TV.”
“Alexa, tell me a kid’s joke.”
You just threw some steaks on the grill. “Alexa, give me a 5 minute timer.”
It’s time to go to bed. “Alexa, wake me up at 6 am.” “Alexa, turn off the lights.”
This is a very smart device. The sound is great. And, it’s learning new tasks all the time.
We then bought the less expensive Echo Dot for our oldest son. He uses it for music, as an alarm, to help with his homework (much faster than typing Google searches). We recently figured out that he can even use it to help with his Spanish homework.
Next, the twins get one. At 6 years old, they’re asking lots of questions. Alexa has the answers!
