Walmart is serious about competing with Amazon and will start offering price discounts on certain items that are ordered online and picked up in store locations. This totally makes sense. Walmart will save money by eliminating free shipping and will start passing that savings on to customers.
In the process, customers may buy more at stores when they pick up their items.
Starting April 19, Wal-Mart will offer the discounts on about 10,000 items and on more than 1 million products by June. Likely, discounts will start on larger, more expensive items like televisions.
This next move follows the free 2-day shipping on all online orders over $35 to compete with Amazon’s Prime.
So the next time you’re considering a larger purchase, check to see if Walmart.com is offering a discount.
