For whatever reason, my son has been hit with injury after injury this past year. After being injury free for 15 years, he can’t get a break this past year. The running joke with his sports orthopedic doctor is that we need to schedule a recurring monthly appointment.
So, we’ve been testing different icing methods. We’ve done ice in a plastic bag (too messy). We’ve done the water jug that using gravity (doesn’t stay cold for very long). I decided to check out what the physical therapist was using. The Chatanooga Colpac. It’s a reusable gel pac that you stick in the freezer. It’s pliable and bends easily to surround the area. With an ace bandage to wrap around it, you get some compression too. If it’s good enough for CATZ Physical Therapy, it’s good enough for us and so far it’s great.
