It’s been quite a few years since our last TV purchase. Our best TV is a Panasonic HD which was a top of the line at the time that we purchased it. It probably cost a few thousand dollars. Honestly, it has no comparison to what’s out there now.
With a couple of TVs in the house and an iPad for everyone, we’ve managed, but I’ve been wanting a higher quality viewing experience.
So, after doing my research I placed my order for the LG Electronics OLED55C7P 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Smart OLED TV (2017 Model). It’s also available in a 65 inch, but our family room wall unit maxes out at 55″. This TV seems to be a unanimous choice as it’s an Amazon Choice, a top selection on Consumer Reports and the top selection by CNET. By all accounts, the picture quality is fantastic. I can’t wait.
As of now, the price on the 55″ is $1,696, but by ordering on Amazon and using your Amazon Visa, you get another 10% back. You’ll see on both those review sites that the TV is priced at $2,696 so this is a great deal.
December 2017 Update: So we’ve had this TV about a month now. I didn’t know what we were missing. The picture is fantastic. The blacks are really black. That means the colors pop without looking fake. The glass is beautiful with hardly any edge. As a result, we have much more viewing screen in the cabinet space. It’s like we got a much bigger TV even though the dimensions are the same as what we had. The sound is also far superior to what we had. The remote is great with Netflix and Amazon buttons to go right to them without needing to flip over to our Apple TV or Roku boxes. The remote also has a pointer for clicking through the menu if you prefer. The rave reviews about this TV are on point. This is the best out there.
