Best Smart Educational Robotic Toys

I have identical twin boys. One of them is a builder. Eric can spend hours building stuff with his legos and other building toys.  Jacob builds with him, but it’s just sympathy building.  He’s not as passionate as Eric.

So I thought I would research the best building and robot toys for Christmas.  What’s out there that’s really smart for building that’s also techy.  Here’s what I found.

The Cozmo by Anki is a robot that is rated 4 1/2 stars on Amazon by 1,200 customers. That’s a pretty high rating so that caught my eye.  Many customers mention that it’s their kid’s favorite toy and continues to be after a year of use.  That’s powerful.  You don’t build it, but you can program it on you smart devices (phone, iPad).  Based on the revi ews, it appears suitable for kids as young as 7 or 8, but adults love it too.  It sounds like it’s so smart that it acts like a pet and learns as it goes.  I’m familiar with Anki because I bought their race car set a few years ago that’s the 21st century version of the slot car set I used as a kid.

So, the Cozmo by Anki is purchased and will go under the tree.

The other toys I’m looking at which I haven’t purchased yet are the Lego Boost and the Lego Mindstorms.

These are building toys that also have programmable robotic features. The reviews on these are also fantastic.  They each have over 600 pieces, as well as motors and sensors.  I’ll be ordering the Lego Boost as that is what is ago appropriate for my 7 year olds, but the Lego Mindstorms sounds like the real deal.
